Programming and Curatorial Assistant
RiverBrink is seeking applications for the position of Programming and Curatorial Assistant.
Job purpose
The Programming and Curatorial Assistant plans and delivers public programming that animates the Museum’s mission. This position develops, initiates, and executes educational offerings and art-museum related special events that aim to increase community audience, members, and friends of the Museum. In addition, the position provides collections management and exhibitions support to the Director/Curator.

This position is normally conducted according to a weekly Museum schedule, Wednesdays to Saturdays from 9:30am-5:00pm but flexibility is necessary, as some hours at night and weekends will be required.
Physical requirements
The physical demands of this position are light. The Programming and Curatorial assistant may be required to lift up to 20 lbs. Tasks might include carrying art works, moving boxes and occasionally furniture, with assistance.
Compensation
$24.00 per hour for 32 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Visitor Services Attendant
RiverBrink Art Museum is seeking a Visitor Services Attendant to provide educational and public engagement opportunities to enhance the visitor experience for the period of May 13 to August 31, 2024. The candidate will deliver tours and facilitate visitor engagement with exhibitions and the collection.
The duties of this position include preparing a virtual tour, preparing and delivering in-person tours, and interacting with visitors in the art museum and gift shop. This position is dependent on approval of funding thorough Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations Program.
This is a full-time summer position (at $16.55 per hour for a total of 37.5 hours per week). The successful candidate will typically work a Wednesday to Sunday shift with occasional evenings or weekends to assist with special events.
Interested candidates must have completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary education in a related field, such as art history, museum studies, fine art, or Canadian history and have some experience with digital photography. Past experience as a volunteer or employee in an art gallery/fine art museum, community museum or historic site would be an asset; however, previous work with the public will be considered. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and an intermediate to advanced level of computer proficiency. Knowledge and experience with PowerPoint and Keynote, database storage, and presentation skills are desirable. Retail skills are requested. Some reading and spoken knowledge of French or other language would be an asset.
The student must be a Canadian citizen between the ages of 18 and 30, have just completed a term/semester of full-time studies and be returning to a full time education program.

Art Education Assistant
The role of the EA is to assist with the development and delivery of RiverBrink's educational programming, including the delivery of our Summer Art Camp for children ages 7-12 for the period of May 13 to August 31, 2024. The successful candidate will act as the frontline contact person for this program, overseeing registration, studio maintenance and materials, processing payments and maintaining class lists and attendance. They will have the opportunity to lead a class of students ages 7-12 and be prepared to take on instructing duties as required. The EA will research RiverBrink's collections and exhibitions in order to design and conduct interactive tours, programs and activities for our Summer Art Camp and the general public. They will also be involved in securing and scheduling instructors. Other tasks include assisting with marketing and outreach for educational programming, Front Desk, Reception and Gift Shop duties, Exhibition Openings, Talks and other special events as needed. This position is dependent on approval of funding thorough Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations Program.

Under the supervision of the Museum Administrator duties of this position include the development of social media content, marketing materials, and coordinating outreach activities and exceptional customer service experiences to promote RiverBrink and its fine art collection. This position is dependent on approval of funding thorough Canada Summer Jobs.
This is a full-time youth summer position (at $16.55 per hour for a total of 37.5 hours per week). The successful candidate will typically work a Sunday to Thursday shift with occasional evenings or weekends to assist with special events.

The Art Museum collection contains over 1,400 works of fine art and a library of 4,000 books and documents. - Research, development and delivery of learning programs
- Initiating ancillary programs, including artist workshops, talks, film screenings, school camps and events
- Developing partnerships and sponsorships with a variety of cultural organizations, businesses, and community members
- Creating and conducting dynamic educational programs, tours and interpretive materials for all ages
- Monitoring and tracking environmental controls
- Maintaining collection records including PastPerfect data entry
- Assisting and supporting the research, development, and installation of exhibitions
- Ensuring that programming is integrated into museum planning and scheduling
- Assists with social media and website maintenance in collaboration with Administrator
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-Secondary education with degrees/certificates in art, education, art history and/or event management
- Communication skills: writing, speaking, media presentations, social media
- Computer skills: pc/mac, hardware and software
- Social animation and teaching skills, such as acting, exposition, narrative
- Strong ability to work with others, encourage and motivate others
- Experience in art gallery/art museum programming
- Experience in teaching, especially art history, art
- Experience working as an “animateur” in art museum an asset
