Susan Wintrop

Susan graduated from the Ontario College of Art (BFA) and worked as a graphic artist/calligrapher (her company was Art Tech) for 20 years before turning her hand to raku pottery (East West Pottery). Along the way she studied Botanical Illustration at the U.of T. and has pursued the art, ceramics and philosophy of Japanese Zen Buddhism. It is here her (personal) painting began, translating Hiroshiga’s woodcuts into watercolours. In more recent years Susan has been investigating the underpainting techniques of the Group of Seven artists and interpreting these into oil paintings and classes at the Niagara Pumphouse Art Centre where she’s taught for 17 years.
