B.Y.O.F.  “Bring Your Own Furniture”
Chalk Painting Workshop
May 13th 2017

Join us on Saturday,  May 13th, for an exciting workshop with The Sow’s Ear designer Patricia Pafford.

The Sow’s Ear is a small furniture restoration business based out of Welland, Ontario. The concept behind the Sow’s Ear was created by Patricia Pafford; for many years Patricia had dreamed of creating a company that would take old furniture and make it new again.
Learn how to breathe new life into a dated piece of furniture  using chalk paint.  Patricia will cover the whole process, beginning with preparation of the piece, making your own chalk paint, painting and distressing the piece and finally, waxing and sealing the piece.  Students are asked to bring their own small to medium sized piece of furniture (small side table, shelf, chair, etc.) as we only have a few hours to complete the full chalk painting process. Old mirrors, trays, or frames are also suitable for this workshop. If you have questions regarding the size of the furniture piece that you are considering for this workshop, please contact the museum so that size/space can be assessed and confirmed. We are working as a group so we will need to be mindful of not crowding our work area. Patricia will provide all other necessary materials, including 4 different colours of paint (white, French blue, light grey and dark grey). If someone wants a custom colour, they will need to bring their own.

Your “new” piece will be ready for take-home and use by the end of the class!

This workshop will be held at the museum on Saturday, May 13 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm (approx.). Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.

The cost of the workshop is $60.00 which includes all required materials and tools – but please don’t forget to “bring your own” piece! It is recommended that you also bring an apron or wear paint-friendly clothing.
